Don explores both the similarities as well as the workflows that both forms of entertainment can leverage as they create these narrative-driven worlds. \n  \nSession Takeaways \n\nThe design rules and principles used in creating immersive physical spaces can apply to virtual ones.\nWorking within the expectations of your audience and then exceeding them is the gateway to connecting with your customers in the XR space.\nTraditional mediums can easily be used along with new cutting-edge tools.\nLearning to communicate your concepts and designs to the team responsible for implementing them will ensure that your ideas make it all the way through to your XR customers.\nFinding the similarities between the design process of creating physical and virtual environments.\n\n  \nSpeaker: Don Carson\, Sr. Art Director at Mighty Coconut \nDon Carson was trained as a commercial illustrator\, his work has branched out to focus on the design of physical and virtual spaces. Working as a Senior Show Designer\, and freelance contributor to Walt Disney Imagineering\, Don’s job is to communicate design through conceptual sketches and 3D models. This work has expanded to include everything from designing entire lands for the Disney parks to guiding teams of designers as they build 3D environments in virtual worlds and 3D games. Bedrohungen und Gefährdungen sind zu identifizierten. Der eigene Schutzbedarf ist dabei zu berücksichtigen\, um Risikoanalysen zielgerichtet durchzuführen und um die eigenen Risiken zu beurteilen (identifizieren\, analysieren\, einschätzen und bewerten) sowie zu behandeln. \nAnnahmen über die Eintrittswahrscheinlichkeit oder Plausibilität von Ereignissen\, die Verwundbarkeit und Kritikalität von Prozessen im Informationsverbund sowie die zu erwartenden negativen Folgen inkl. Abschätzung des Schadensausmaßes helfen\, eine geeignete Risikobehandlung auszuwählen. DESCRIPTION:The event will explore the impact of bias and hate speech in extended reality (XR) platforms and discuss ways of prevention. \nThis presentation will explore the impact of bias and hate speech on social harmony in extended reality (XR) platforms. Drawing on research from psychology\, ethics and linguistics we will discuss the language and practices that contribute to bias and hate speech and how they affect individuals and communities. Having examined the ways in which bias and hate speech are propagated in XR spaces\, we will then begin to explore a number of ways in which they could be prevented or mitigated. \nThe event will be held in english. \nSpeaker:\nDanielle Shanley \nDanielle Shanley is a post-doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. She is currently exploring the ethical implications of immersive environments (which combine advanced technologies such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence). Dani’s expertise is mainly within science and technology studies (STS) and the philosophy of technology\, with a particular focus on reflexive\, participatory design methodologies (or\, responsible innovation)\, such as social labs and value sensitive design (VSD). \nEsen Küçüktütüncü \nEsen Küçüktütüncü is a documentary filmmaker\, visual artist\, and researcher in VR (Virtual Reality) and Clinical Psychology. She completed her Master’s degree in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and is currently a PhD Candidate at Universitat Barcelona within the Event Lab under the supervision of Mel Slater. Her PhD research focuses on the development of shared virtual environments and virtual agents\, tackling conflict resolution and social harmony.

The virtual reality installation Theatrum Radix conceived by artist Marlene Bart encourages the critical examination of this security in the context of the limits of visual and spatial perception. \nBart transforms the auditorium of the historic Anatomy Theatre into a walk-in encyclopaedia\, in which glass and plastic objects created by the artist\, natural history collection items and their virtual equivalents coexist and form new combinations. \nThe virtual reality animation can be watched from Tuesday to Saturday between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. via VR headsets.

DESCRIPTION:An immersive concert experience situated between analogue and virtual space makes up the Mahler Chamber Orchestra’s concert project “Between Realities” on Easter Monday. Together with violinist Pekka Kuusisto and sound specialist Henrik Oppermann/Schallgeber\, the orchestra explores space and sound at the interface of different levels of reality\, raising questions concerning the “realism” of performance as well as dreams\, imagination and fantasy. A particular focus lies on Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s suite from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”\, which the Mahler Chamber Orchestra performs not only live but also for the first time in a virtual reality performance. \nOver the course of a long concert night\, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra presents works by composers including Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy\, Charles Ives and Nico Muhly. The analogue concerts are complemented by the VR installations “Future Presence I\, II & III”\, which invite audiences to draw closer to the music of Mozart\, Ives and Mendelssohn Bartholdy than ever before: with the aid of VR glasses and headsets\, audience members can freely move around (or through/over/under) the ensemble\, thereby expanding and rediscovering the process of listening.
