Er ist der wichtigste Preis im Bereich VR / AR / XR für Forschungsprojekte. \nBewerben können sich alle Forschenden und Forschungseinrichtungen – egal ob Wissenschaftler:in\, Studierende\, Hochschule\, Fachhochschule oder Institute / Organisationen. \nEine hochkarätige Expertenjury entscheidet über die Gewinner. Am 27. September 2024 findet die feierliche Preisverleihung abends im Dortmunder U statt. \n  \nNeben der Preisverleihung findet am selben Tag ganztägig eine Expo der Nominierten in der “BIG direkt gesund” statt\, die für jeden zugänglich ist. Interessierte können sich dort über den neusten Stand der Forschung informieren und die Anwendungen selbst ausprobieren. Außerdem können die Nominierten dort der Jury ihre Forschung live präsentieren. Zusätzlich gibt es Fachvorträge und Paneltalks. \n2024 steht der XR Science Award unter dem Motto „Wissenschaft und Praxis“ und wird in fünf Kategorien verliehen. \nDer DIVR XR Science Award findet im Rahmen der #diwodo statt. \nAusgelobt und organisiert wird der Award vom DIVR e.V. mit Sitz in Dortmund.

Studierende entwickelten eigene VR-/AR-Lernumgebungen und erprobten diese in der Schule.
